Hey guys, I'm new here, but plan to frequent it soon (I will be purchasing a 4runner)

I am going to check this one out today in a couple hours and wanted your opinion... Is it too much hassle to replace a rear main seal? This is the guys description:

v6 auto with 4 inch procomp lift and 33x12.50 mud tires. rebuilt top end with new head gasket and new water pump and timing belt. leaking oil and fuel lines wont hold prime, also the bolts rattled off the exhaust near the the engine so its running open lol very loud. also missing the front driver sidee cv joint it does run very well tho once its going.

When I asked if I could drive it home, he said: The 4Runner isn't a reliable truck at the moment. It's leaking oil pretty bad. It will drive across town but I wouldn't run it very hard. I rebuilt the top end with a lot of new parts but the head is leaking a little and the rear main seal is leaking.

The Price: TRADE for a 58" Panasonic Plasma that cost me $500.00

500 is a good price. I would expect to sink at least a grand into it getting it up and running. And holey hell on that stinger, things HUGE. Guy must of had a small...shoe size. Also know that the auto and 3.0 are not the best combo. Reliable, yes....fast NO, defiantly with the 33s, unless its been re geared. Rear main seal means taking the transmission out, or at least sliding it back a few inches.

Personally, it sounds like a hack job and Id steer clear. Go look at it, if its what you want get it. If not, feel free to ask more questions.

I would wait and find something in better condition and with a 5spd. This will turn into a money pit
