Need Advice with 285/70/17s

I've just recently installed a set of 285/70/17 on 17x8.5 rims with 4.5 backspacing. Problem I'm having is that they are rubbing on the front fender flares and front wheel well rear section whenever I'm trying to make a sharp turn left or right. Will a lift kit solve my problem or can I get away with trimming until I get my lift kit installed. I'd really like to keep my fender flares until I put on a aftermarket front bumper.

This will help. I think you at least need 2.5 inches.
