1994 T4R stock 4wd

I need suggestions for better gas mileage. $he is at 13-14 now. Thats Poor!

What should TPS spec be? Can I hook up my Maxidas to this OBD I ?

No CEL

Tires are at 40 lbs

How does the fuel/air ratio get determined?

Without all the info ( what trans, milage, tire size, compression, driving conditions,etc) all I can do is guess....... I assume its a V6 since they are more common than 4 bangers.


*check for any codes.
*Full tune-up= New plugs, diz cap & rotor, pvc valve, air filter, oil change, etc.
*also have the cat checked, Inflate your tires properly.

again assuming its a 3.0 V6, you only have lost about 2 or 3 mpg max.

I see it all the time where every joe blow claims to be getting 5 to 10+ mpg over what the actual MPG is.... remember the test from the link is with a new vehicle 100% stock, not some old tired 1/2 wore out vehicle with any mods or different tires

Best way: trade it for a car

Sorry, no other way to economically really do it. Full tune-up will help. Smaller, lighter wheels. Smaller tires. Adjust driving style. Lower the car. Replace front hubs with manual locking hubs. Pull off A/C belt.

In the end, you'll spend much more money trying to get better gas mileage than you would of spent in gas anyways. If you're hurting that bad, then either, you need to get a different (or another) vehicle that gets significantly better mpg or driver less.

Oh, and to answer your questions:

TPS measurements can be found in the FSM.

Fuel/Air is either defined by preprogrammed maps in the ecu in closed loop or by the O2 sensor in open loop. The latter being used a majority of the time.
