we have a couple of used cherokee's on the lot where i work and trust me those things are pieces of junk. screw that man ill stick wtih my toyota.

Believe me, I know all about how crappy Cherokees are. We've had 2, and both were garbage. Off-road, it was hard to beat my old full-time 4wd 5.2 V8 lifted Grand. But once it hit 60,000, I felt like I was fixing or replacing something every other weekend.....

He didn't mention anything about wanting reliability and longevity in a vehicle, he just mentioned all out speed. Any way you cut the cake, that SRT8 is incredibly fast......

The ONLY thing great about the SRT8 is the engine, it is still a HEEP!

I have driven the SRT8 and if you want on road power its definitely a good pick. I wish my Runner had that kind of power. Unfortunately it is a Jeep and has already proven faulty (due to a manufacturing mishap) but all in all its a nice vehicle. I work for a dealer and see many vehicles come through with Toyota type quality so I can't bash Jeep. Need for Speed, Yes! Need for Offroading, No!

I'm also not like alot of people on here who are huge into offroading. I do like lifted vehicles, mud tires and have thought about that route for my 4runner. I just tend to do alot of on-road driving and want to be able to keep up with Hemis, look good, and still use it in the winter.

im not much of an offroader myself "i mean come on, i live in nyc where am i going, the most offroading i see is a few inches of snow" so im all about speed but the srt8 just isnt a truck. trucks are able to go offroading

Franco...I live in Garden city LI...i hear ya on the off-roading...I love it, but the most i do is beach running on the east end and at robert moses. In case you were unaware, each spring from either March thru May or April thru may, you can buy a NY State Fishing Permit for $49 bucks. The permit allows you 4x4 access to several awesome sights up and down the coast of long island:
There are a few acces points on Ocean PArkway east of Jones Beach near Gilgo, Democrat Point at Robert Moses, Montauk Point, Hither Hills State Park, and two sites at Napeague (off Montauk Highway)
the permit requires you to have certain gear in the truck, but, its nothing major, and you don't have to fish, but you do need fishing gear. I've found that its the BEST way to take my family to the beach for the day, no walking across the parking lots, no trudging across miles of beach with chairs blankets coolers and toys...email me and i'll give ya more info if you want it

thats a pretty good idea i usually renew my fishing permit everyyear cause im a big blue fish fisher "love the fight" and im always on long island either fishing for black dogs at point lookout or at friends houses and i only go to jones beach if i go to the beach cause the beaches by nyc arent even suitable for my runner to drive on u may wreck the truck with all that garbage.

I've wanted to go to paragon for some time, but, the thought of driving about 3hrs west to PA to spend a few hours driving off road, and then 3hrs drive home isn't all that appealing...i'd love to do it one day though

Yeah I did it from VA and I was pretty much useless for the rest of the night. A week later and my truck is still dirty

All this hype about the SRT8, but nobody mentioned anything about the new SS Trailblazer. I wanted to buy it when I was looking for my 4R, but I chose to go the fuel efficency/reliability over power/unefficency.

"Power is delivered by the Corvette-derived LS2 6.0L V-8, enabling a 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds. A performance suspension with lowered ride height also is part of the package and was tuned by GM

The SRT8 does 0-60 in under 5 seconds but it's still a Jeep and the market markup is insane especially when you're just getting a Cherokee with some horsepower.
