Need guidance on buying, 2011 limited, good for off road?

So I'm thinking about upgrading my tired 98 sr5 292k miles to a 2011.

But I want the limited features.
I don't really ever do dirt 4x4, but i go ON the beach 2-6 times a year for 1-5 days each trip, on the OBX and maybe FL someday.

I cant find a 2009 limited in my color and area, those have 2wd/4wd systems.

Will I be ok using a 2011 with its awd/4wd system? I hate that its more maintenance and stuff that may need repairs over time, also less gas mileage.

How robust is this awd/4wd? I also love pulling cars out in snow, mid Atlantic regoin here.

Toyota says the awd/4wd is designed more for on road use......

The limited drivetrain is almost identical to the SR5/trail with a few exceptions and will be perfect for what you are describing

*Transfer case is the same family however Full time 4x4 Limiteds have a center differential in the case which allows the FT4x4 that the others don't have

*Limiteds do not have a Automatic Axle Disconnect on the front axle like the 4x4 SR5/Trails as it does not need it it due to the Center Dif.

*You have XREAS shocks on the limited, as they age they do have a chance to leak, replacement is expensive but you can tear out the entire system and replace with standard shocks with relative ease (to make it easier leave the lines in place just remove the shocks

*You can not get the OEM rear locker on the limited like the trails, while this could come in handy on the beach its not a must have and simply airing down your tires/an AT tire will go along ways and of course some common sense.
