Hi all I'm new to this forum and am looking for some helpful hints on what I should do. Don't laugh because it still runs and I love it. Anyway I have a 1994 4runner that is mostly being held together with threaded rod and duct tape. The reasaon is I lived in Massachusetts all me life and it is routen away but I have this problem with the rpm's going to 3000 rpms everytime I step on the gas and as I drive the highway everyday at 60 MPH it runs anywhere from 2800 to 3300 anyone have any ideas??

I have had the transmission check it is A ok.
Going up a hill the pedal is on the floor and i lose power.
The engine has only 165,000 miles on it.

If its anything like my 94 that engine just doesn't have any power to it. Going up the on ramps on the interstate is painfully slow, actually somewhat un-nerving because its hard for me to get up to everyone else's speed and I don't like 70mph semis coming up on me that fast. The rpms don't sound to bad. Mine is about 2700 going 60 on the highway. 3000 if I go 70.

your TPS might have an open.
when you floor it, your trans should down shift and the RPM's should
increase. you said the trans was chekced and it was all good.
you might also have an air flow problem. check your air filter to see if its clean... your air flow metter might need some attention. check for leaks on all your air lines/hoses
