If the drier is open to the atmosphere for an extended period of time, it is a "sponge" for moisture in the air as the desiccant can become prematurely saturated.

Whatever line you get - especially if it is used - be sure to spray some AC line cleaner through it and blow it out with compressed air. The cleaner (Available at AdvanceAuto and probably AutoZone will clean any residue from old coolant and oil that might remain in the lines....
