Need Help on JDM 3.4 Engine Swap 1998 4runner Limited

Hey, my 98 4runner 4x4 has what is thought to be a bent rod from sucking in water through the intake. We have another JDM 3.4 engine from a 1999 4runner that is ready to be put in. My question is what are the steps to take the engine out? It seems like everything is too tight to get to and there is no room to work on getting the engine out. Can anybody give me steps on taking the engine out? Does the differential have to be removed? Are there special tools that are needed? How is there enough room to get to the torque converter bolts if I can get the access plate off for example? Does anybody have a video or a good step by step write up to help? Used to working on older cars that are really simple to work on.

Ok got the access plate off, now how do you get the flex plate converter bolts off? Also how are you to torque the bolts when reassembling it if i do manage to get them off? I want to understand how to put it back together before I take it apart.

I think you can tight the flex plate bolts to the converter by simply holding the converter by hand. These bolts are 10 mm or so and won't take a huge torque.

I swapped a A/T camry transmission and that's how we did it.

Correct me if I am wrong.

It doesn't tell you torque specs, but it does have a layout of what everything is and how it flows persay.

Hold the crank bolt while loosening the flexplate bolts. Same deal with reinstalling,you should be able to spin the torque converter by hand (or turn the crank bolt) to line up the flexplate.

One of the bolts should be different, install that one first, it lines up the remaining bolts.

30 ft/lbs torque
