I took my 1999 4runner limited into the dealership because for the last month and a half it has been throwing a code, and the starter has been acting up.

The starter is under warranty. However the code im being told is an igniter... which is 500$ + labor.

The vehicle runs fine. Do i even need to change it if the vehicle is running fine?

STOP!!!

Before you go spending crazy dollars based on what some money hungry dealer said, find out what the code is (Pxxxx) and post it up here. There's a good chance its something simpler, and we'll be able to tell you from the code.

Just want to make sure you guys realize your looking at two different things. Control Module or Coil. Figure out which one you need. Would also listen to what Techno posted. Could deff. be helpfull.

just one of those days. go back to the mech. and get them to give you a written quote of parts and the diagnostics they ran, techno is right this is a far better way than the just replace the whole thing mentality. cheaper too!
