need help selling my runner

yeah converting it is a lot of money every one knows this... thats why they will buy one that is already 4wd for $9k... look i dont mean to be rude but you are high, your runner is not worth $10k, i wouldnt pay $10k for one just like yours with 4wd, who cares about the miles, its gonna last for another 200k+ anyways if you take care of it. so i may as well buy one that has 150k or more with 4wd for $8k and save 2k for the upgrades.
i just bought my snorkel from a guy who is looking to sell his runner, its a 2001 4wd with a OME lift, ARB air lockers front and rear, regeared, ARB front bumper with warn winch, yakima roof rack, some nice upgrades like a 800watt inverter, CB radio, trans cooler and recent major maintenance -water pump, timming belt, and new radiator ect. the guy has close to $5k in mods that are usefull. he is asking less than $12k for his. you asking $10 for yours is crazy. its not even 4wd, no one is going to look at it or take you seriously... id start by knocking $2k off the price right now, and i dont think you will get any "real" bites till you have lost $3k off your current asking price. up here in the PNW we have a HEALTHY market for these 4runners, 4wd ones with salvage titles can got for $7k -thats crazy, but i have never seen a 2wd go for more than $6k up here, even dealers who have had nice clean 02 sport editions with under a 100k cant get more than $6k, and thats with financing. your not going to get your asking price private party unless you find someone who is crazier than you

Personally I wouldn't even look twice at it because it isn't 4wd and i've never understood having a truck that wasn't 4wd. That being said ... "So Cal" and I do not share MANY of the same opinions. There are a ton of lifted 2wd "pre runner" bro trucks down there, so you could still get good money out of a 2wd lifted truck to the right person.

Problems I see:

Your truck is going to sell to a small niche market, so it will take longer to sell.

You could part it out to lower the asking price (by selling the aftermarket parts or keeping them for your 4wd purchase)

I would redo the entire ad:

clean the hell out of it, FULL DETAIL, and go take GOOD pictures. If you don't have a decent camera ask around I'm sure someone you know does and can shoot some good pictures of the truck. Not in a parking lot at work or whatever, but in a nice clutter free background. make the truck the focus.

Don't use craigslists tiny picture hosting. Upload the pics to another host so you can have good full sized pictures in the ad. Its advertising, you have to make people want the item. You want them to be sold on it before they even call you. Then look up how do to enough HTML to set up the ad with proper spaces and formatting.

I remember one girl that photo chopped her head in to one of the pics from a Celica I was selling. Her and her mom drove about 4 hours to meet us to buy that car off of ebay. .... that was a good ad!

Others may be right about the price but if you aren't in a hurry to sell re-do the ad, and don't be afraid to sit on it for a while if you really want that kind of money out of it.
