Need help Wiring to battery

Hi, my dad recently bought a 05' 4runner, and he is loving it. There is a mod he wishes to do. He wants to run two 6 guage wire from cabin to the battery to power his inverter. I have searched the forum and the info isn't exact. The most important info he needs is how to run the wire through the firewall, pics would be very helpful. If someone can please guide me and my dad that would be very helpful. Thanks and have a great day.

There is a rubber boot to the left of the brake pedal. Look with a flashlight and you'll see it. Or you can look in the engine bay and you'll see the wires going into the firewall to the same boot.

Just make sure you fuse the wiring at the battery and make sure the cables are well insulated where they pass through the firewall. REAL IMPORTANT!

I used rubber cap for my fog light project to install rocker switch underneath steering wheel. As Koz said, be careful to have appropriate insulation on wires.

Koz is right about the fuse. A 6awg wire need a big fuse. If such a big wire finds a short to ground without a fuse, you might in for some fireworks. Hopefully, the inverter would provide this detail.

Does anyone know if OEMs mount inverters and run the AC voltage any distances in the vehicle? What kind of wiring is used (protection)?

OK, well what kind of thing are you running with that AC coming off the inverter? Stuff permanently install in the car or just quick use stuff?
I would recommend not running anything permanently installed since should anything goes wrong wiring wise you can kiss your car goodbye after the fire. As far as running the wire off the battery to the inverter put either a circuit breaker, or a fuse properly rated for whatever kind of current you're pulling within 18 inches of the battery connection. Of course as everyone else has said so far be sure to go through a rubber grommet in the firewall and make darn sure the wire insulation is not cut or damaged in anyway on its entire length.
