Need help with a Fire Truck Detail

Hey team
Well we have a special even in Ottawa (Canadian Fallen Firefighter memorial) to attend in sept and are taking one of our Aerial Ladder trucks
I have been asked to get some of the guys together and give it our best at detailing it
Now this is a big rig with lots of chrome….stainless…and diamond plate….as well as plastic lights etc
I would really like to hear any tips or suggestions on products to use (stress this on the steel)
We have a few weeks to make a plan of attack but it is going to be a huge amount of work
I’ll get some pics up of the beast

Ok, for over the counter products you probably cant go wrong with the Mothers or Meguiars line ups. Most of them would be wheel polishes but it will work perfect on all that metal. I also wouldnt hesitate to use a Mothers Powerball...with all that metal a powerball and a cordless drill will cut your polishing time significantly.

For the plastic I would use Meguiars Pastx..I have it and it works well. they also sell headlight restoration kits that give you a pad to use in your cordless drill for great results. For other product check here http://www.properautocare.com/plcapr.html

On the other hand you can find of the more "boutique" or higher end products here. http://www.properautocare.com/metalpolish.html For what you are doing its going to take a ton of elbow grease but it will be worth it. I would grab a package of inexpensive microfiber towels from BJ's or Target because you will use a lot and they will be very dirty.

First step is to contact meguiars and ask them to sponsor you for the show. Explain what you are doing, and i'm sure they will send you everything you need. I know they sponsored our car show a few years back, sent us a nice set up of the NXT products that were new at the time.
