Need Help with drive belts

Damn, I was feeling so good earlier today. I have never done brakes before on any car, and I went ahead and did that, including replacing the discs and two broken lug bolts. But it went down hill after that. My alternator drive belt broke last week, so I had to do it. I can not figure out the drive belts. First of all, I didn't have access for my fat hands, so I pulled the fan and fan shroud. Now, I can reach the alternator belt adjustment, but I have no idea how to move the alternator. I have loosened the bolt and cranked the "adjustment bolt" both ways but I get no movement. So, after about an hour of pain and suffering, I threw in the towel for tonight. So, how do I move that damned alternator? And, once I can actually move that, how do I loosen the power steering pump? And once I figure that out, how do I adjust the lower pulley to adjust the ac belt? I feel like such a moron like I am missing something, but I can't figure this out. I know someone can slap me into figuring this out! Please!

All of those belts use the same adjuster. It sounds like you forgot to loosen the lock nut before turning the adjuster bolt. See if this helps

Thanks guys. Like I said, it was a long night and I was beyond frustrated! Appreciate you being gentle, Durk.
