LOL well that didn't take long for someone to recognize the movie! Yeah, i'm very happy with this system and the head unit has room for so many add-ons it just makes it the perfect base for your in-car entertainment system!
Well not so much for the original poster, but right now I think the best unit for the money is the Kenwood DNX-6980. The Excelon series from Kenwood gets a 3 year warranty vs the standard 1 year warranty.
Crutchfield has it on sale, plus they give you the metra dash and wire harness adaptors free plus instructions. And they are an authorized dealer so the warranty stays intact with Kenwood.

Hey guys, just giving everyone an update on my headunit stuff. I order the pioneer cord for the ipod touch from amazon here: Amazon.com: Pioneer CD-IU50V USB Interface Cable for iPod/iPhone: Electronics This was $12.42 while the same one in Best Buy and everywhere else was almost $60! This cord allows me to play all my videos that i have on the ipod through my head unit and head rest monitors! So i highly recommend this cord if anyone else has the same setup.

I only noticed the lack of power of my factory HU after I was in my new Trail. The difference is sound quality is shocking.
I replaced the factory speakers in my '06 early on (I highly recommend it - and if you haven't, you'll understand why once you see them) and got some bang, but I just realized that I'm falling short on sound quality. I think the solution is to begin with a new HU, like this Pioneer AVH-P3300BT.
I'm also getting tired of looking for an acceptably priced Scion HU that I can verify is in good condition.
I've had some anxiety about changing out the HU because I want to maintain the functionality of the steering wheel controls and the AUX jack in the bottom wall of my console. The idea of a iPod cable coming off of the front of the panel is not appealing.
So, I've got what is probably a pretty simple question...can I maintain both the steering wheel controls and also the AUX jack? I'm sure once I have the factory HU out, I'll be able to bury the cable for my Garmin to clean things up a bit so that would be nice.

I am also thinking about buying a Scion head unit to replace my OEM one. I am also concerned that I keep the steering wheel controls -- not interested in doing the swap if I can't.
Navigation would be a nice feature, but not for the kind of money everyone is talking -- I have that on my Android phone for the occasions when I need it, so I'm not willing to pay very much extra to have it in the dash.
