Need help with sluggish V6 4runner "video"

I need help with my truck.
Installed junkyard engine around 90 days or so ago.
Truck ran great for 3 months. Now its slow and sluggish. Really bad if nail it to the floor trying to pass. I get a downshift and high revs, but no power.

Theres a thread started just yesterday about a guy complaining about his truck cutting out... The similiarity between the two of you are that you're taking it to the redline.

I would look into fuel delivery, fuel filter, fuel pump and possibly injectors.
 
try a full tune-up new plugs and wires, new fuel filter, clean the sensors like MAF and the throttle body, replace the air filter, yada yada yada... never trust a junk yard motor... did you flush the motor of oil and all fluids after you got it?
 
My buddy's Exploder was doing this a while back. He got it for $1000 due to the issue, and after a $200 cat he sold it for $8K. It was the catalytic converter that got clogged up. I could understand it being fuel related if it was missing or cutting off but it's not. If the exhaust gets clogged it will be killing power just like that.

Unbolt it right before the cat and take it for a SHORT drive. It will be loud but that's the quickest way to troubleshoot and it's free! Then replace cat and done!

Yup I agree. Had a Ford Ranger w/ the 4.0L do the same thing and it was the catalytic converter. Similar issues and similar drive as your video.
 
you know jon might be right, it could be a clogged cat... but you would think it would through an o2 code for the cat... maybe not though
 
I have swapped out coils and plugs. Still have issue
I took the fuel filter off and blasted it with 125psi. Still have issue
Unbolted the exhaust and took a ride. Still have issue.
Replaced Maf with the junkyard one. Still have issue.
 
A local company here in Jacksonville Florida test, and cleans injectors for $25 a piece. I know I won't feel to good if I have them cleaned and tested only to reinstall and my t4r still be slow.
 
So you ran it with the exhaust unbolted pre-cat right? Pretty much right there at the headers?

Sucks man. This might also be transmission related. The engine performs fine in park and neutral right? Floor it and let her bounce of the rev limiter for a sec. Maybe it's a clogged trans filter? That usually causes slipping (which is definitely not your issue) but transmissions are pretty complicated and you may actually have a binding issue due to loss of line pressure. Just toss it and get a 5spd! Or get a flush and new filter.

Check fluid level and consistency.

Is that a new torque converter?

I'm trying to rule out the engine since it's not throwing a code, not skipping and sounds healthy other than appearing to have no power.

Yea I unbolted the exhaust before converter.
It seems to rev up fine. I will make another video shortly. It's just so damn hot outside to work on her
The transmission seems top notch. It's not slipping at all.
