With all the add ons I have put on the vehicle it weighs a lot more than it did stock. I am currently running toyota pads on the brakes and feel the bite is just not enough. Is anyone running a more aggressive pad that they would recommend. When is used to track my Audi I always ran aftermarket Ferodo street performance pads that chewed up rotors but the car stopped. gladly replace rotors every 30K miles if i can get this thing to stop better.
need more aggressive brake pads.. any suggestions?

I had the Hawk LTS on my Tundra.
MUCH improved over stock pads.

I’m running the Hawk HPS and I’m VERY disappointed in them. I wasn’t expecting race car level stopping distances, but I was expecting some semblance of feedback and good initial bite, neither of which is present.
I also have brand new (<20k miles) front calipers. I plan on swapping them out for Carbotech Bobcats or whatever they call them now. It’s their ‘entry level’ pad but there’s nothing entry level about it.

Mine had very good initial bite.
Not sure about dust, black wheels.
Stock pads were terrible and mine also resulted in noise and warped rotors.

I had the LTS on my Tacoma and noticed an improvement as well.
I'll be getting them on my 4Runner when it's time for new pads

I've ran StopTech on all my vehicles. Haven't had any problems. I have StopTech Streets on all 4's. They are super dusty. Better initial bite and good cold bite (MN here) over whatever was on the rig when I bought it.
Some forum research said they are the TRD pads, or atleast Centric/StopTech makes the TRD pads.
Went with Hawk HPS on the play car. No problems to report on those either.

i've always like porterfield RS4 brake pads for my street cars (i am not currently running these on my 4Runner but will be as soon as i need new brakes)
great feel and stopping power. do not recall any excessive dust issues.

i used beck/arnley rotors and akebono ceramic pads. worked good so far with the bite. do you know that the hydroboost system in the 4runner handles it really well no matter what the pads are? just maybe your hydroboost brake booster just needs a brake fluid flush. during a panic stop, it can actually lock up your brakes. just for you to think about.

stoptech stainless steel lines, front and back, might also want to upgrade the line at the rear axle that comes from the body.

good brake rotors, i use stoptech slotted rotors, i do drive all pavement tho.
new fluid, anything thats dot 3 and dot 4, i use the valvoline mix. do not use dot 5, havent heard much about dot 5.1 but its surround sound $hit lol.

I've installed new OEM Toyota pads on my 3rd gen, was nothing to write home about.
Apparently the stock pads for the 4th gen are Akebono, the ACT series... supposedly.
I've had OEM, Advics, and now the Akebono ASP (Performance Ultra Premium Ceramic Pad) and man... the ASP series is quite substantially better than any other pad I've used yet. The cold bite is reliable and firm, force applied is linear, and the thing can STOP NOW.
There may be better pads out there that gets the ol' girl to a halt faster, but I do like the whisper quiet stopping, lack of rotor eating, and most of all, clean wheels.
The shop that does all the work on my rig warned me away from HAWK because they squeal like heck (alot of reviews also said this) and EBC because they've had EBC pad material separate from the backing plates... on various cars over the years.
the HAWK pads stop real good though, I just didn't want to add brake squeal to my list of annoying sounds to fix. Whether they do or do not squeal though is not clear, as that all reviews on all their pads are mixed. I just didn't want to chance it with so much money getting dumped into the project.

We put the akebono asp on son's 05 with stoptech rotors 2 thumbs up ! Roll pretty hard with his build .

I forget what I bought several years ago. Great and aggressive pads. Required wheel cleaning every 5 days.
