you sacrifice wet traction big time w/ KO2's.. and i think you can say the same for any tire w/ big fat treads.. if you're willing to sacrifice cool factor then get some Michelin LTx defenders from costco which are currently on sale right now..very good performing all season tires but they'll think it's your grandpa's 4runner.. also comes in LT flavor for those rough unpaved county fair parking lots
I sent a price match to discount tire for the Falken A/T3W from Walmart for $188. I think what I've learned from this is that I would much prefer a C class tire which that seems to fit the bill. I can get the BFG KO2 for $214/each, but the E class will be too much for what I need. I see they used to have C class for those but do they no longer make that?
What wheels do you have?

If you need real traction this is a good choice. I am not off road too much so the plan is for the Cooper AT3/4S next time around.

Yup cooper AT3 XLT will fit your bill. Make sure it’s the XLT version, aggressive sidewalls and drives similar to stock tires.

Those have a different offset than say the TRD OR or SR5 wheels. They are more likely to rub on a stock 4Runner with larger-than-stock tires. But you can probably eliminate any rub with the known techniques.

I am down to a couple of choices, both 255/75's, the Hankook DynaPro's and the Cooper AT3 4S.

OP any quality P-rated AT tire will look good or even great and ride well enough.
Grabber AT2's were good to me, they look great, ride and wear well.
Have heard nothing but good about Wildpeaks.
My Cooper AT3's wore like iron and worked well, my only complaint is they they look a little boring. Not much to complain about.

Do you tow a bit? Curious as to the decision to opt for a C load if you won't go off road. CW is C load tires take a hit in MPG, comfort, and road noise. Things you can live with, but not really desirable if it's not necessary.

It is. C is for less load than E, equivalent to 6 ply where an E is 10 ply.
My two cents on tires. Find a Jeep gladiator guy and buy his takeoff tires. The Rubicons come with LT285/70/17 Wildpeaks in Load C. And these guys have too much money so don't feel bad low balling them.

Yup, that’s my opinion, go check them out. Discount tires or America tires (depends where you live) has some sort of return policy. If you don’t like them you could return them for something else.

I had two sets of these on my 2006 RWD. Great tires, no balance issues, 60-70K miles of wear and decent on unpaved roads.

I've been running the Hankook Dynapros All Terrain recently all be it on a 2003 Montero AWD but the handling and traction has been phenomenal. That and next to no real road noise, it's all weather rated and still has that aggressive look. Now that I have a 2020 T4R ORP, I'm also on the look out to upgrade new tires for the stock road tires that Toyota for whatever reason has put on a TRD Offroad vehicle. I also am looking for any suggestions for a low road noise but very aggressive tire on the trail. BFG KO2's, Nitto Terra Grappler, etc.?

It is. It goes E (10-ply equivalent), C (6-ply eq.), then SL (or P) (4-ply eq.). Some tires come in D, but not many. E & C are "truck tires" (the size will say "LT" on the side wall before the numbers), which have thicker side walls, a tiny bit more tread, and I think, depending on the tire, made of a different, harder compound. C tires are considered a nice compromise for people who off road, and E tires are generally considered overkill on a 4Runner.
SL stands for standard load. Sometimes they're called P tires or passenger tires and may have a "P" in front of the size (I'm not sure if there's a technical difference between P and SL. Some else can fill me in.) These are usually what 4Runners come with off the dealer lot. They are lighter than truck tires and so will give you better gas mileage and a more comfortable ride along with less road noise. The trade-off is they're not as well suited to go off road or tow heavy loads, but you'll find people here who say a passenger AT tire is just fine for light to moderate off roading (if you're going to do some off roading in a P tire, it may be smart to buy the tire warranty for peace of mind). More intense off roading on a P tired will increase the chances of blowing a side wall, especially if you air down (which is generally not recommended that you do with a P tire because of the excessive strain airing down puts on the weaker side wall).
Many AT tires don't come in a P version, but some do, such as Ridge Grapplers.
