Need new torque wrench -- Recommendations?

Ordered and received a couple wrenches.

Tekton 1/2in 10-150ft/lbs. Nice with no complaints.

CDI 3/8in 20-150in/lb. Even nicer with no complaints.

Awesome, what are you planning on using the CDI wrench for? That is a pretty low range for a 3/8" wrench.

For my needs I would have preferred to get something in that range in a 1/4" drive instead.

Edit: Never mind... I just googled that wrench. Its smaller than I thought it would be. It basically looks like a typical 1/4" wrench but its setup for a 3/8" socket. Makes sense, sometimes I am using adapters on my 1/4" drive to accommodate 3/8 sized sockets or adapters like a spark plug socket.

Try e-bay for great prices. I found good used wrenches there and within calibration specs.

Was it in car craft? I read a similar article. I own 2 HF wrenches. One 1/2" the other a 3/8" love them both

I also have H/F torque wrenches... I like them and use them frequently; guess I should find somewhere local to have the calibration checked?

You could always get something like this and do it urself...

Attach it to a bench vise or something else and then you can spot check your torque wrenches against it. Its probably not a perfect solution but it would probably be close enough for you to figure out if you have a problem or not.

This is an old tread, but I'm sure it's a repeating request.

I've purchased 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 CDI torque wrenches from Ebay. These are the same as SnapOn (i.e., CDI makes SnapOn wrenches). This has covered all my needs, from torquing the seat bolt on my carbon-frame bicycle to some reasonably stout suspension bolts. All three wrenches looked to be new - and I mean not a scratch on them, and they all had the calibration paperwork and plastic cases. I didn't pay more than $50 for any one of them, and am extremely happy with them all - they're great wrenches and noticeably better than what they replaced.

Ebay's great for quality tools if you have time. It took me a few tries to get these at rock-bottom prices.

Nice... CDI and PI and my two top picks. I need to look at used tools more often... especially for things like wrenches, sockets, hand tools.

My friend has got some killer deals at swap meets too. He said its great for loose/one off wrenches and sockets so you can get more sizes that matter to you too.

That said, I do get a warm and fuzzy knowing that I am the first owner of my torque wrenchs, but I did pay a pretty premium for that as well.
