I need my fellow 4runner Bro's to help me with this one!

Help me find someone Selling one of these: (AND WHAT PRICE WOULD YOU PAY)?

What I want: 2000-2002 4runner Sport Edition

MUST HAVE:

Black Exterior
Sun Roof
4WD
Good condition interior
Little to no scratches or dents on Exterior
Sport Edition ONLY
2002 ONLY
Below 150k Miles

WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

Tow Package
Skid Plate
Rear Spoiler
Sun Roof Visor
Hood bug plastic deflector ( I don't know the specific name )
Good/new Wheels
Window Visors
Dark Tinted Windows
"Does not need Running Boards" ( I'm discarding them )

Well that describes mine exactly, every detail.
Mine had 157xxx miles, great condition in and out.

I paid $7,700 and I felt that I stole it.

I was seeing 4Runners nowhere even close to as nice as what I bought selling for $8000.
 
I'd say expect to pay a premium being that you are pretty specific on what you are looking for. If anything pops up around here, I'll let you know. But prices around here are already inflated as it is.
 
The good news is you're in t4r/SubaruOutback country, so your odds of finding what you want are the best out of anywhere in the country. I'd budget $8000, expect to pay $7000 and hope to get one for $6500.

I have an 01 sport in black and down here it was like trying to find a unicorn. Everyone told me it was impossible but i did it. Paid $6500 I think, which I talked the guy down to given some issues it had.

Also, if you're getting one in black, buy a jug of Chemical Brothers waterless car wash and a pack of microfiber towels. Keep them in the back and plan on wiping your truck down every other day or so. Black is a total dust magnet, especially in CO.

I second this. It will be very difficult to find. I would expect to pay over $7000 for the truck you described, maybe close to $8k. GL

What are the difference between 2000, 2001, 2002 Sport Versions? Is there any difference at all? Let me know in full detail if there is please!
 
If you were looking for all that plus mandatory 5 speed Id say good luck, but Im sure the right one is out there for you, and looking for an auto increases your chances probably more than 10 fold. If I can find the one I wanted on Vancouver Island with a 5 speed then you should be able to find yours with a bit of searching no problem.
 
2000 Limited is the only setup that offered multimode transfer case and optional elocker. But this is on the Limited, not on any other trim.

2001-2002 have VSC/TRAC. Pretty sure 2000 does not.

VSC controls your throttle to help regain control in a skid situation. This can be a pain in the ass cause it cuts out your throttle when you sometimes want it to kick in. I've only had negative experiences with it, but I've also read people saying that it's saved their lives in higher speed situations.

TRAC uses the ABS to apply brakes to wheels that are spinning without traction. Offroad if you get a wheel suspended it causes the differentials (front and/or rear) to share power with the opposite wheel in order to keep you moving. It's technically not as good as a locker offroad, but it's better than earlier years with open diff and nothing to compensate. It also works onroad, which is something you wouldn't do with a locker.

As far as the differences between 01-02 sport ed. The only difference I'm aware of is 02 has the Sport Edition Badge, and 01 does not. Different colors were available between the two years, although black and silver were available both years. The delicious Mica Red was only available in 02, for example.

Slightly different seat fabric too if you want to get super deep.
 
I commented on a few things that would increase the chances and decrease the price. I'm not in CO, but CA shares the same high prices and competitive market for 4Runners.

Below 150k Miles - Maintenance and care is more important than mileage here. What's better, a 140k mile engine that was only worked on when broken, or a a 175k engine that was well taken care of? Also, make sure it has had the timing belt replaced!

Look for the bare-bones things you can't add, such as interior (do you want cloth or leather?), sun roof, paint color, etc. and start there. I'd encourage you to keep your options open, you might come across a better 4Runner for a better price if you're willing to compromise.

However if you know for sure what you want, be willing to travel! Chances are there's one you want outside of your area or in a neighboring state, like Nevada for example. I have no idea why but Nevada rigs go for cheaper.

For some reference:

I bought an '02 SR5 Sport Edition in Thunder Grey last month.

It was a needle in a haystack in the IL/IN/MI/WI area, and that's not to say it was flawless either. But, it has all the options you stated with 123k miles.

Black.........I WANT black but it is non existent at least in the Midwest area. I searched about 130 ads and saw in person 6 Runners. I would expect to pay around $9k for a flawless black Runner with all the goodies you are looking for.

Also the Hood piece you are after is called a big deflector in most cases. Toyota has them stock, but AVS (Auto Vent Shade) makes them also. I bought mine for $45 shipped.

I would also make sure things such as rust on the undercarriage, leaks from engine, suspension, and drivetrain are inspected, and most importantly the timing belt/water pump maintenance has been completed (recommended @ 100k miles). That's a costly maintenance if you can't do it yourself.

That one you linked with 140k for $14.9k just sold. Who knows the actual price.... but that WAS fast.

I will say I just bought my 5 speed with 120k for $11,250 and that one linked absolutely had more than $3,750 in solid mods done to it, however I believe it was auto.
