Need rust help on 3rd gen front bumper.

I have some untreated rust on my front bumper. It's starting to bubble under the paint and some paint has come off. It appears to only be in the corners. Is this too late to fix or can I fix it and repaint? Any help would be great I've never dealt with rust before. Thank you!

Pull the bumper off, sand/wire wheel it, prime, and paint. It's not that back, and should be fairly easy to take care of.

If the front is that bad, the inside is probably worse. Also if it's visible on the bumper, you probably have frame rust as well. Give it a good look - over

I think if you are willing to put in the work you can save this without that much time commitment.


If it was me, I would probably check out the local ads for guys parting our 4runners or salvage units. In my region there seem to be a bunch of both.

This thread is 3 months old. That bumper is junk though. I would just get an Ebay replacement instead of wasting hours sanding and painting that thing. These bumpers are not made of particularly thick metal. If it looks that bad from the outside then the inside has got to be terrible.
