Need some direction in reference to my Colt

This is a little off-topic but I will blow your mind.
My Father was a Baltimore county policeman for 20+ years and had a 38 cal. Colt snub nose detective special just like that one
BTW it was his back up gun he carried on his ankle and off duty.
Duty gun was aslo the 38 special anyone who is in law enforcement knows you carry the same Cal. as your duty gun as your back up gun. This was in the days before semi-auto and speed loaders.
Anyway got off topic his snub nose like yours was police issue serial number 00000001. That was offered for purchase as backup guns. I wonder what it is worth?
When he retired from the Police Dept. and moved to FL.( I was 16)
He gave it to a friend that was a gun collector( and also a Palm beach county policeman).
I would have loved to have recieved this now that I an older and have a fondness for handguns but at the time I was more into cars then firearms. I am sure if he thought I would have wanted it he would have saved it for me, that it how life goes sometimes.
Anyway my dad passed away in 03 and you brought back a fond memory for me of his service in law enforcement and made me smile. Thanks

Sorry I don't.
I remember the gun and my Dad just told me about the serial number by the time I was intrested in firearms it was long gone.
