I wanted to put this on the audio side but not much traffic there. I've got a 2k1 4runner sr5 with out the JBL system. I'm building the sub box, have done the head unit and internals, now I need a good place to hide the amp. It measures 12"x8"x 2.4" in height for reference. I wanted to put it under the driver side seat and mount it to a piece of ABS plastic then wanted to mount that to the seat frame holes but they are odd in position, not just four hole straight down on the floor and the floor pan isn't really flat under there. So my next place I was thinking was on the driver side in the rear panel behind the second row of seats. Has anyone done this? I know there's plenty of depth just be measuring, but I haven't taken the panel off yet yo see what I've got. I was also thinking about using that little cubby on the passenger side but I actually have stuff in there and use it so that's really out.

Mount it under the seat using a plastic cutting board. Board goes under carpet but not drilled into the floor. So, board under carpet and the amp screwed on top. Works great!!
That's a great idea, I've never heard anyone mention that! There's a natural slit in the carpet for wires to come up to the electric seat. My assumption is you used that slit to run your wires up through? Second when you mounted it, I'll assume you poked holes in the carpet then ran bolts through with nuts on the bottom side of the cutting board to fasten it together or something like that. Finally I'll also assume you ran the wires in looming or not to the amp. I guess if I wanted to, I could use a bushing of some type between the carpet and the amp to sit it off of there, that way I could run the wires under the amp. Do you have any pics of this, I'd be interested to get a visual.

I agree with this idea!
There is room on the driver's side rear cargo panel, space forward of the air vent and above the wheel well. However if you ever want to make any adjustments on the amp unit you'll have to tear the entire cargo area apart again. Under the seat makes it much easier and there's a lot of room down there if you don't have rear heat.

Here are a few pics. I don’t have any of the cutting board but just go to the Dollar Store and cut it to size. $1!!!

I run two amps. The 1500W Mono sits in the passenger side well between the inner and outer sheet metal. It's help in place by a few bolts drilled through the sheet metal. The second amp is a 4 channel that sits under the drivers seat. 0 AWG power runs from the battery to under the drivers seat where a bus bar sends a positive lead to both amps. I can't find any photo's of the amp under the seat but it's big and barely fits.
As far as needing access to the mono block I've never had to. Once it's tuned it's a set it and forget it type of thing. Just make sure your gains are set correctly and put the panel back on. I haven't touched it in 3 years and it still sounds perfect. The sub it powers is actually in the passenger side storage door. lol
