the engine seems to max out at 3800 rpm's. Will rev higher but it seems to be pushing the engine very hard. is this normal rpm for the 22re engine to top out at? recently rebuilt the engine, but it was like this before I rebuilt it. cam to crank timing is okay, valve lash is okay, timing seems to be advancing, exhaust seems to be not restricted. I am just wondering if this is normal for the rpm range for this engine?

My buddy had one years ago. I would remember if max rpm was that low... I think it was in the low to mid-5's but realistically a little under 5 was good, I do remember that. (I almost said if you were in a hurry but if you were in a hurry take another car:lmao:.)
Is the exhaust open enough without being wide open? Clogged converter?
