I don't have any experience with the mod, but I know that Sogoood is finishing up his as we speak. Maybe try to contact him.

Please help me on how to attach the metal material to the original grill so it looks clean.

Hey dude, my best advice for getting that chrome off would be to grab some good thick gloves (it is SHARP) and a cheap, but sharp knife. Cut a small slack, and pull it back. It took me about 3 hours, and shredded a pair of kevlar gloves.

It's hard work dude, good luck!

What year do you have?

I used a different method on my 2nd attempt at this mod. I wasn't 100% happy with the first because I didn't feel the mesh sat far enough inside. Wish I had pics but it's late and that would have to wait til later if you want to see what I did.

I copied Brianemc2 the first time I did the mod. Then bent the gutter guard mesh around the back and fastened with screws the second go round. Still dont have pics because I forgot all about this thread the other day when I posted.

I definitely wouldn't say I did it the "best" way but it seems to be holding up so far.

The only problem I found is that the gutter-guard is very flexible and I wish it was stiffer.

It's hard to say what the best way is...personal preference. When I did it the second time I was able to get the gutter guard taut using #6 1/2" bolts (I believe thats the size I used)

satoshi grill mod, question?

So I to am in the middle of this mod, but having trouble finding a good source for mesh, I've used hardware cloth before, but always backed by something else to add rigidity.
Found some more rigid silver alum mesh at pepboys but seemed pricey at $40.
Still have some diamond pattern expanded metal, but not sure it would look good in the grill.
Attaching a picture of some inserts I made for my now gone Element. Used expanded metal w/hardware cloth behind it in the lower openings, for contrast
the upper opening has hardware cloth behind the factory grill.

thoughts ?
thanks josh

Josh...try going to any import car shops and get the kind of mesh they use for bumper air dams and what not, they come in different sizes and patterns, but most of them only comes in chrome finish...nothing that can't be painted.:guitar3:
