Need some help

92 3.0 V6 5speed 176k miles. The truck will start (not as smooth as it should) but idles really rough and if I hit the gas it dies.

Any ideas on what this could be??

first i would check the obvious, how much fuel do you have in your tank? If you are low on fuel you may have enough for your engine to stay idling but only just, but not enough to increase rpm.

It has plenty of gas. And a new fuel pump

fuel filter? check to see that the auto electric choke is not faulty. try unplugging the wires for it

How about checking to see if the ECM has generated any error codes?

The TPS is one possibility I can think of right now.

is your check engine light on? You will need to plug the truck into an obd-1 code reader.

Get a Jumper wire, or a Paper Clip and Go to the Diagnosis terminal on the vehicle i think its above your fuse box under the hood and jump the two Ports. Turn your car on. The light will flash so many times once you find out how many times it flashes than look up that number for that code. Life for mine it flashes two times pauses.. than does five more. so mine was 25 (rich ratio O2 sensor).
