Need Some Ideas

Hello, I searched around the forum a bit but didn't come up with anything. Basically I dislike the circled compartment in the below picture and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas of what to replace/modify it with. Links/Pics would be much appreciated.

Note: The picture is a generic googled image. I replaced the stock HU with a DVD player.

I keep my navigation & phone chargers in there. Kind of an impractical storage compartment, but good for those small things. I've also seen others that keep insurance & registration papers, business cards or membership cards (costco, REI, etc) in there.
Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot you can do with that area

I put my mic hanger on there for my ham radio. But inside I put receipts and small whatevers.
