need to confirm I have cali emissions 4runner

I've been reading all the threads and posts about the common and hated p0420 check engine code. I currently have that code on my 99 4runner auto v6. I just need to triple confirm that I have a cali emissions vehicle before I purchase the rear oxygen sensor (from what I have read this seams the most likely cause). I DO HAVE 2 SMALL CATS... so is this 100% that I have a cali emissions vehicle?

Yes. You should also be able to find an emissions sticker under the hood stating vehicle meets California emissions standards.

thanks, I wasn't able to find the sticker. I did look up the part number on the urd site... 234 4153... Seems like you replied to a number of these threads.. I'm sure, like me, others appreciate people like you who spend the time to reply to these questions. Thanks a bunch

Im pretty sure you have a cali emissions 4runner. But, are you sure the sticker isnt under the hood? Its a white sticker, in the middle, on the underside of the hood. The small print should read: emisions compliant for 49 states AND California compliant - or something like that.

If its says California anywhere on that sticker you can be 110% sure of what you have. If it was NOT a Cali specific emissions vehicle, the sticker would read 49 state compliant or 50 state compliant and not mention California specifically.

EDIT: Mine IS a Cali 4runner, just an FYI.

I haven't been able to find the sticker yet. Its a 99 highlander, with sport hood, and the noise damping material on the underside... so no luck finding the sticker on the underside. Thanks though... about to order the part, but just wanted to know if anyone else could confirm that the only 99's with 2 cats were cali emissions vehicles???
