We just cannot seem to find any Subarus that we like for some reason. What about the Honda Crosstour - anyone have any experience with them?

If it were me, I would rather have an older 4Runner with higher mileage than anything on that list, but everyone has different tastes and different priorities.
Keep your current 4Runner and refinance it for a longer term. Every time you trade vehicles you will get further underwater.
You might consider refinancing the loan to a longer term instead of replacing the vehichle. My husband and I are buying a new home and need to really cut back on our vehicle payments. We currently have a 12 4runner limited and we absolutely love it but it has a pretty big payment with it because of some negative equity from another vehicle we traded. We have found a few vehicles which will lower our payments 150-200 dollars a month and still be able to eat up some of the negative equity we have in the 4runner. I KNOW this is a 4runner board but I need some good advice on these vehicles and which would be good or ones to stay away from - so here is what we found that will work:
2010-2011 Ford Expedition or Lincoln Navigator
2012 GMC Terrain
2008 or 2011 Buick Enclave
2011 Infiniti EX35
2011 Kia Sorento
2012 Honda Crosstour
These are all 4WD or AWD which is what we need. Good reliability, comfort and decent space are important for us.
That's why I want to know which is junk. Would you say the navigator or expedition are junk? We have never owned one so that's why I wonder - these offer obviously the most space. The ones I mentioned here are the ones we have deals offered and that will work for us to accomplish what we want and lower payments a decent amount.
There's a lot of great advice here. I mainly agree with refinancing for a longer term. It's a 4Runner and even though you may be in negative equity territory today, that will change. Used 4Runners go for top dollar and is your wisest investment over all of the other vehicles.
If you're dead set on getting rid of it, you'll regret it. I got rid of our 2010 4R because at the time, the fuel costs were killing my wife due to all of her traveling. Our situation changed and we were never happy with anything else we bought so we purchased the 2015 Limited. I'll keep it until the frame separates from the body. And I'd probably still keep it after that happens in 30 years.
I would suggest a 2004-2006 Lexus RX330. Its my other vehicle ('04) with 95k. It has been the absolutely most reliable vehicle I've owned wich has included other Toyota and Lexus vehicles. That or like others have said and older 4runner! Good luck.

Money is not tight we just need to downsize car payments. We don't have to, but we should because it would be smart on our behalf. Any of these would allow us to do that. Just need some opinions on the cars and not other things. I appreciate the help and advice but just need some real advice on these.
I would suggest like everyone else is to get an older 4Runner or even refinance. Also i would recommended a 1999-2001 Jeep Cherokee with the Inline 6, not the grand. I and 92 and 2001 and never had an issue with them.My husband and I are buying a new home and need to really cut back on our vehicle payments.
