Need your input before I pull the final trigger.

Hi guys, I know I started a thread about the seats on a 3rd Gen 4Runner I am going to be purchasing. The vehicle in question was put on sale on eBay and I have been researching things like crazy. Here is the link to the truck:

I have been in communication with the seller and he tells me that the work done to the truck involves New Tires and Brakes about 8k miles ago, timing belt and water pump at 197k. Now I do understand the 4Runner's resilience as I have had a 2010 and now have a 2016 that my wife drives. I pulled the carfax and I see that maintenance has been done but there was definitely a lapse on it as per Carfax records. I have the copies of the carfax attached here. It has had 2 accidents in the past, but it is also a 18 year old truck. Now do know that I am getting out of a 2003 Grand Marquis with only 106K miles that I use as a daily driver into this as I near abouts got killed in it due to my long 75 mile each way commute to work and back in bad weather. What I want to know from you guys is your opinion about how good you guys think the truck is. Also the seller did send me some more pics of the truck that I will attach on here as well. I am planning on going to pick up the truck on Wednesday this week and I just dont want to end up in a money pit thats all.

I need this to last at least another 100k miles and I am willing to put in the maintenance it will ask for .

Nah, I wouldn't. This truck didn't catch a break. Interior tabs seem broken and that's going to rattle your nerves during a long commute. Can find better for the same price. Browse CL for a few days and you'll find something in way better condition. My dad recently nicked an 02' with 150k for $3100 on CL and I'm sure there are folks on here who've had even better luck.
 
Well I wouldn't say a broken tab on the dash panel is a big problem. The vehicle looks respectable, of course pictures are not the same as seeing it in person. The price is very fair. For a very clean low mileage 3rd gen I'd expect the price to be closer to 5K. Drive it, look it over close, if it seems alright AND you like it just buy it.
 
I just put a JDM engine in my wifes 4runner at 167k miles because the rings were shot and it was burning oil. That cost me about 2200$ to do myself. If the vehicle has a clear history, little to no rust, and good maintenance record 2900$ is a great price.
You want 100k miles out of it, that's roughly 3cents per mile. You can anticipate spending a bit of money on new items like radiator, lower ball joints, and maybe a tranny fluid flush so another 500$ if you go OEM (which you should).
I would buy it, but my financial situation may be different than yours. I just don't think you can find a more reliable vehicle for that price, *IF* it was well maintained.

I don't mind putting in the extra $500 right off the bat into it. Car fax shows that the vehicle has had regular oil changes every 3k or so miles on it, there is some interval gap between oil changes back in 2011 or so but the past 70k miles have seem to have had regular maintenance. I planning on selling my Grand Marquis so that I will break even on the truck if not, atleast come close to it.

Yeah, I only bring up the monies to let you know how much I invested in a JDM motor (58k miles) swap for mine. I put in 2200$ for that while you are looking at 2900$ + approximately 500$ in parts for a 4wd 4runner.
My original motor had 167k miles on it while yours is just over 200k. Mine didn't have good maintenance history and yours seems to.
