Hi Guys, I am new to the board. I can tell most love these trucks.

In 6 hours, I will be looking at a 2001 4Runner SR5, 4x4. A good friend is the origional owner with all the dealer maintenance records.

It has 142,000 miles. (my biggest concern).

This thing has every option and is in perfect condition. I can buy this trunk for $9000.

Is this a good deal?
What should I be looking for when I go drive this?
Any other problem areas with this truck that I should look for before I lay down the cash?

Thanks for your help!!!!

Let me start by saying that you don;t need to worry about the mileage. There are many TR4's on here that have gone well past 200,000miles and still run strong as day one. There aren't really any major problems with these trucks. I believe 9000 is a really good deal for a 2001. In fact it's a steal. If infact it was previously owned by a good friend that has service records and such I don;t think you can go wrong. Good luck and Welcome to the board.

According to Kelly Blue Book the price is right on. If he did ALL the maintenance according to plan, the truck should be good for another 142K.

I just got a 2001 Sr5 little while back and so far it's been great. Mine only had 67K on it but I've seen T4R's for sale with 200K+ miles on them. The only drawback to an '01 that I've seen is difficulty getting accessories, or even aftermarket parts for that matter.

Ok thanks. I have never owned a truck or a 4x4. I understand Toyota quality, but is any any specific problem area I should check out?

$9k sounds right for the miles since that is a bit high for the year but Toys do go and go and with solid maintenance 250k seems to be the norm on the engine.

Gary,

That's a friiiiiiiiickin steal. I agree with everyone that milage isn't that big of an issue. I would inquire if the timing belts, water pump, thermostat, fluid(s) flush, have been done.

One you get her, put some pics up and search...

100,000 maintenance

Welcome to the boards bro,
