I'm in the process of selling my car and then I'm getting a 4runner. I'm on about a $10k budget. I've found a few decent 4th gen 4x4's in that range, but it's just the base models. What I like about the 4th gen is the power and ride. I love the interior/exterior on the 3rd gens though. Also, I have a lot more options on the 3rd gen with my budget (more out there in my price range, and I can get a loaded one with Limited or Sport package instead of base model). So, my two complaints are power and ride (had a 96 2wd a few years ago). It's not that the power and ride is bad, it just wasn't near as good as the 4th gen. I like that the 3.4 is a more proven motor, so that's nice to know. I'm planning on regearing and I think that'll improve the seat of the pants feel and solve the power part. What options do I have to improve the ride quality? This will be a daily driver and not see any off road action. I'd kinda like an inch or so of lift, but that's not a big deal at all. If I can smoothen the ride for fairly cheap, I'll be in the market for a 3rd gen instead of the 4th. Thanks for any input!
