neoform wiper blades = perfect

I went down to Advance Auto Parts to get some winter blades for my 4Runner and I saw that they carried Neoform beam wiper blades that were the same that I had on my '06 Civic. So, for apx. $16 a piece I picked those up and boyyyy do they work GREAT! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for new blades. I loved the ones that I had on my Civic and so far the ones on my 4Runner work flawlessly leaving me a perfectly clean window every stroke. They're also VERY easy to clean the ice off of in the morning. Pick yourself up a set! Oh, and I do believe they last 2-3x as long as other blades too, so they're worth the extra initial cost.

*edit: The one's you'll want for your 4Runner are:

16-200 - 20" (passenger's side)
and
16-220 - 22" (driver's side)

I had to have them (the guys at Advance) look up a '07 4Runner 'cause the '08 wasn't in the system. I also left my rear wiper alone 'cause the rear window doesn't get too sloppy anyways.

I just got some Silblades winter with PTFE coated silicone wiper blades. Havn't tryed them out in the snow or rain yet. Heard silcone rubber suppose 2b better, we'll see.

I got a set of JAMAK Tripledge (silicone) wipers. And you're correct about them lasting longer than the conventional rubber blades. Thats why JAMAK has a lifetime warranty on these wipers. BTW: I got em for cheap at Wallyworld. :biggrin2:

Do these blades clean the whole windshield? I have the Bosch Icons and they miss the top 1-2 inches of the windshield on the driver's side. My wipers are starting to streak and it is time for a replacement.

They are the same exact size in length as the original factory ones that were on there:
22" on the driver's side
20" on the passenger's side
It's been raining and snowing since I've bought them and so far I highly recommend them!

I bought the icons and returned them the next day. They didn't wipe the whole windshield. Don't waste your time!

Me too... was a waste of money , I thought it would be a great idea for winter / ice build up , but when they dont wipe the complete window what was the point in keeping them. I could not return mine since I used them for quite a while thinking they would eventually curve to wipe the window eventually .

but I left mine on. They really do not work!

(I put a set on my wifes car first for testing, it never rained so I bought a set for the 4runner, then it started raining... man what a mistake)

Bought a similar set called Reflex here at Canadian Tire. The single spring loaded structure is a good idea for not icing up and keeping contact but the blade quality doesn't last compared to the price you pay. They started to chatter after six months. Just went back to switching sets of regular and winter blades every season.

The silblade I bought from Amazon was shown as a bracketless design on the internet. When I got them, they were the bracket type. I drove thru the last 3 snow storm with them and had no icing problem with the brackets. The blade itself had ice build up on it causing streaks, but the flame never ice up. In rain condition, these silicon blades works pretty good and its suppose to last much longer, we will see about that. BTW, these silblades are almost half of the price of PIAA blades.

I've had Bosch Icons on my 4Runner for about a year now. I noticed that the wiping area is slightly smaller than the OEM blades. Maybe 1/2" at the most. The only reason I noticed was after the windshield dried and I could see two outlines of dirt. One from my old wipers and one from the new wipers.

The 1/2" difference doesn't bother me one bit. It really doesn't matter to me...

Count me in as another one dissapointed with the Icons performance, they were not very good last winter but I got them late in the season so I thought I would give them another chance this winter but through the early part of this winter they have not worked very well, I end up going through half of my wiper fluid to keep the windows clean. We have had everything up here so far, snow, freezing rain, combo of both but no go with the Icons.

Time to replace them with something else.

Well I made the switch from the Icons to the Neoforms on Christmas eve day. The Advanced Autoparts place only had the driver side in stock when I first went there, they had the passenger side delivered from a neighboring store the same day. I drove around with the Neoform on the driver side and the Icon on the passenger side for a few hours and the difference was noticable right away. The Neoforms do a much better job at getting the full wiper range vs the Icon's which stuggle to wipe the top 1-2". We had snow,sleet, mix over Christmas and the Neoforms did much better the the Icons I had on. The Icons seemed to be stiff and leave lots of streaks when dealing with snow, ice, sleet.

After a drive home yesterday of two hours with constant road spray that included dirt and salt (they love to coat the roads up here) the neoforms did great.

So it is still early and I will post an update after some more use on these but so far the neoforms are better at handling the curvature of the windshield.

I found that the OEM replacements (just the rubber) work the best and they are not over priced.
