Nerf Bar/Rock Rail question.

OK, I want to get either nerf bars or rock rails. I guess I don't fully understand the difference between the 2, the both look like round tubes running down the side of the truck. The only difference I can tell is the nerf bar's stick out a little more to provide a step up, and the rock rails tend to be closer to the body.

My guess on this is the rock rails/sliders are made of a thicker steel is the only difference between these?

basically, nerf bars help you get in/out of the truck. if you wheel with them they will most likely get ripped off. sliders can actually support the truck and are designed to take impact before the body does.
