Nerf Bars, what brand is everyone using?

Looking to swap out the plastic running boards for some nerf bars on my 2004 SR5. Although I'd love to put the n-fab nerf bars on the truck, I'm not sure I want to spend that much so I'm wondering if others have installed the regular Aries or Steelcraft nerf bars? If so, any pics? How do they hold up? I've read a few reviews that complain about the location of the bars and that they cannot be used as steps, is this true? I've got little kids, so easy access is a concern.

Thanks, I've searched this thread before, but only see some images on sliders but maybe I've overlooked something. I don't really go off-road - I'm simply looking to ditch the plastic running board for a set of nerf bars. Although I'd love to eventually add some of these armor option, I'm also not looking to break the bank at the moment!

get the sport edition bars - i be;lieve there are aftermarket versions of those available as well.

I was looking at just getting the Sport Edition bars but besides looks they don't appear to provide any functional benefit like a true slider would.

SE Edition

Get the SE Edition if you want the look. I have an SE and it looks pretty good but personally I don't think its really that functional when if comes to keeping the mud or rocks or dirt from hitting the body. Some sure someone would selling theirs,I've seen them posted FS before.

I bought some Demello sliders and really like them… but at times I wish they were a little more aggressive because I actually do use them off-road. They work decent enough as a step.

It’s not like they don’t do the job, but I bought them for protection, but I think they could have stuck out just a tab bit more. I also think a kickout would be pretty useful, but I don’t like the way it looks. I wish they made something with just a mild kick out because some of the option out there are not to my liking.

I also recommend painting over powercoat… much easier to touch up after heavy use to prevent rust. Rust-Oleum high performance enamel is holding up great.

Just did a quick search. Doubt these are OEM but some place as a starting point.
