New 00' SR5 4x4 4Runner owner from CNY

Hey all

New to the 4 Runner world

love it so far,kinda*

5 miles into my 1st drive,leaving the previous owners home, I get a 70 in a 55 ticket, I wasn't paying attention to speed and it felt like I was standing still, I was going 80

and there is undercarriage surface rust on stuff- curious to see what i might want to replace as preventative maintenance after 10 yrs of salt roads in new york and 138k miles

timing belt and tires have been done in last few thousand miles- I need a windshield from a crack, and I think original shocks could use replacing,maybe bushings underneath- is there a 1' lift for front end? is that for better ?? or best to keep it stock?

chrome bumpers have some rust- I read on this site that ebay / online chrome bumpers seem reasonable enough but don't last as long as oem-maybe if I undercoat them they wont rust out so fast? I will call local yards also to see if any good used bumpers are around,doubtful

what about exhaust-? it looks like I will be replacing exhaust sooner or later-what is best source for that aftermarket oem replacement or is it best to replace with something performance ?

Yeah, you should POR 15 the bumpers if you get new ones, Bushings are a must i.e. sway bar bushings, swaybar endlinks, steering rack, Lower Control arm bushings, and a few others. I went with Rancho RS5000's in the rear for Shocks at $80 shipped for both from sears, and i got a free set of KYB's for the front from FoneRunner. The bushings and shocks make a dramatic difference. You may also want to look into doing a regular tune up as the power may increase. Best way to deal with the rust is too wire brush it, or sand blast it, and then POR-15 it.

previous owner did a tune up-oem stuff, I may use a K&N- I am not complaining of power at all,when I step on it it has good get up and go,no doubt

I am doing avg w/mpg as well 17-21

trans fluid has been serviced and the radiator flushed - guy could have washed it more - I think he let the rain be his wash,crazy.

I got a deal on it, but by the time I get it tight it will be average $ and I could have bought a limited lol! but it will be new tight. I also have some metal sound from the front driver wheel,goes away when I turn the wheel right,sound is there when turning left. may be wheel bearing.
