Greetings from Monterey CA! Been lurking on the forum for a while, figured it's about time I post an introduction and start participating!
Purchased an '03 V8 4WD LTD 4runner back in June. Got it from the first owner (young female, dad had paid for EVERYTHING and took great care of the vehicle FOR HER). 106K miles. All maintenance has been done at the Toyota dealer, and upon inspection of the records it seems as though all the routine maintenance has been done. I didn't notice any of the larger 90-100K suggested maintenance/service items though--so I will probably need some advice and guidance about stuff I have already noticed on the forum (timing belt, pumps, etc.). I plan to take it into the dealer within the next few weeks for fluids and an overall checkup, but I have heard mixed reviews about the Toyota dealer here in Monterey--may need some extra help depending on the vibe I get from those guys.
Loving the 4runner so far! Looking forward to ski/snowboard trips, getting to remote hiking/back-country camping areas, hauling our bikes and stuff around, some light off-roading, and daily driving (of course).
Our only other vehicle is a well worn, well used, and beat-up '97 Jeep Wrangler (170K, 4cyl, 4" Susp. Lift, 33" BFG A/T). The clean, reliable, and powerful 4runner is a great contrast to the noisy, windy (top and doors STAY removed ALWAYS--no fun otherwise), bumpy Jeep--my wife especially thinks so.
