New 06' 4runner owner here...need help with mods

Hello all! Just picked up my 06' 4Runner Limited V8 w/Navi today and am loving it. Its the natural white (which is the first white vehicle I ever owned), but it looks great with the gray leather interior. Anyway, I am ready to start modding immediately and need help. First, most of my time will be spent on the paved roads but still want the best (money isnt an issue) mods available to make my 4Runner not only look good, but kick butt offroad on the weekend adventures. So, money not being an issue, what is the best way to lift, level, mod, deck out my precious new baby?? It does have the 18" wheels, so I may have to sell them for some 17" or 16" wheels. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Money is always an issue.:D I would search this forum, esp. Off-roading subforum and read up on the stuff. You're asking too much of an open-ended question.

LOL, because its been so long since I was last on the site that I forgot my old password and no longer have my old email address. Thats why I created a new name and password. Whats your thoughts on a lift, tires, wheels, etc??? What would look good with my white 4runner

Why don't you have your old email? I can easily email you your old password.

i just bought a new 4runner myself and have very similar concerns.

here is what i did.

3" cornfed lift (burtman industries)
265/70/17 goodyear fortera tires
volant cold air intake (burtman industries)

i drive mine about 25k-30k miles a year a have no problems with these modifications. as a matter of fact, i can't tell a difference between before and after. (except, of course, it looks a lot better and does great off-road.)

My old email is no longer valid. It was SBCglobal and I terminated my account with them as I now have cable DSL.
 
Would you like your old name? In the old account, I can change your email address to the new one. Or, i can change your current name to the old one (but i have to delete the old accont completely).

Is OME the best way to lift the suspension? Or, should I buy Donahoes? I just want the best setup regardless of cost. And, what should I do about tires? My 18" wheels don't leave alot of options. I will look into the other mods you are talking about asap. Thanks

OME is probably the best. However, i would skip the OME shocks (doesn't last long, performance goes down over time). I would get Bilsteins instead.

If you want to keep your pretty 18" rims, then i would consider the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor which comes in stock size. If you want to play bigger, then Nittos TerraGrappler makes 285/60/18 size...but i am not sure if it rubs or not during off-roading. I think that several members have this...and they report no rubbing. You may want to do a search by entering in the tire size. This is probably as big as you can get without major rubbing.
 
OME are popular and give good characteristics for the price.

Hoes are outstanding but I don't think they are made for the rear yet.

Do a search as all this information is already in print.

If you want to go all out offroad (which I don't think you do) then search for Subject: Total Chaos or Username: Goodtimes.
 
If money is no issue I would get a custom fabricated suspension lift. Maybe 6-8 inches...with a solid axle front end. A nice rollcage to protect the shiny new paint. Custom front and rear bumpers and I am sure you could get someone to drop in a TRD Blower in to the VVT-i even though TRD says you can't. Money talks. You can just buy another 4Runner for your daily driver and turn this rig into a rock crawlin, beach cruisin, mud slingin machine!!

No but seriously OME is probably your BEST bet. Time and trail tested and proven. The 18s are nice but you might wanna ditch them for the trails.

Thai, you are right. At some pojnt money is always an issue.

do you have the xreas suspension on your 4runner? if you do, and are not willing to pull it out, your options on a lift are limited.

i beleive bulldog or thai gives a very detailed listing of all your options as it pertains to lifting your 4runner.

No, actually my limited does not have the xreas. So, it should be fairly easy to lift.

without the xreas your options are limitless when it comes to a lift.

if you can find that thread i mentioned earlier you will see a ton of information.
