New '06 Sport Owner

Just wanted to say hello and thanks for the information that I've acquired from this forum. It helped me a great deal in buying my first ever Toyota product let alone a 4Runner this past Saturday. I've owned nothing but Honda and Acura cars and so switching over to a Toyota SUV is quite a switch for me.

Anyway I considered the Limited with V8, but really preferred the styling of the Sport and once I drove the V6 I realized the 8 wasn't necessary for my needs. Biggest thing I need to do now is continue to read and learn more about the features, mods and maintenance associated with my new truck. I'm a complete Toyota newbie.

The 4Runner is incredibly smooth, powerful and quiet for it's size and I'm very impressed with quality that you get for the money. I tried hard to talk myself into the MDX, but I just couldn't after driving the 4Runner and so a lifetime Honda owner has switched over to Toyota.

Welcome to the board! That is a great looking truck. I haven't seen many Sports in Salsa Red.
 
Thanks for the compliments on the truck. In Northern Virginia it would seem Salsa Red is not that popular as in the Sport model most dealers I checked with had more than one in their inventory. Salsa Red, White and Silver were plentiful when I was looking.

Quick question.......can anyone name any tire chains which provide trade-in credit for the Dunlops I presently have on the vehicle? I'm interested in getting some Revos fitted, but I'd like to be able to get a few bucks for the stockers if possible.

Shoe, I'm in Richmond and when I got my 2006 Sport back in September, I looked into swapping the tires on it for Michelin Cross Terrains. I had not read much good written about the Dunlops on the forums. Tire Rack lists them dead last in their ratings. Anyhow a local dealer who I know personally said it would cost $500 or more on direct trade even if I drove it straight from the dealer. His problem was he didn't get much call for the Dunlops and they were in an unusual size to boot. I decided to drive the Dunlops till they drop and then go for a replacement . Big price difference between the Dunlops and the Michelins at Tire Rack. I like the appearance of the Dunlops and their outline white letters. I'm almost at 10 K miles and no problems with them so far.

I've got 26K on the Dunlops and just did some offroading at Rausch Creek with some guys who had much better rubber. The Dunlops aren't the greatest, but I've been able to drive the last couple winters without problems. I'll probably break down and get some new tires (Leaning towards the Nitto Terra Grapplers at the moment) before next winter...
 
Good decision on the switch from Honda to Toyota. My previous cars were all either Honda/Acura as well and I had nothing but headaches with them. First of all they are the #1 auto theft targets which made for high insurance rates then #2 there were always little things wrong with it and #3 their engines are overrated. IMHO I think they are the Japanese version of Ford.

Does your 06 SE lean to the left? Can all of you check to see if your vehicle leans to the left?

By the way, if you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the car before tax? (and what comes with the car?)

Does your 06 SE lean to the left? Can all of you check to see if your vehicle leans to the left? (0.5" to 1" lower on the left side. Fender to tire.)

By the way, if you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the car before tax? (and what comes with the car?)

Nice!!

This was me too. Our family has a Honda family as well. We had every Honda prelude manufactured, starting with my Dad, my older bro, and me having had the last model (which is now discontinued).

Our family then became a Toyota family. My dad an SC, my mom an LS, then RX, my bro has a GS, his wife has an LX, and me with an 05' Runner. Gotta love Toyota!!!
