Saw the thread title, and thought 'cool new landcruiser'
Then saw the pic
That really makes me sad. The LandCruiser is suppose to be the top of the line SUV.
But that thing looks like a low level Hyundai.
I sure hope the 4Runner doesn't turn into something wimpy and generic like that.

Seems like the new Highlander is following suite with a similar style. I saw a pic in a brochure but it was a little hard to tell anything , saw a TV commercial and I was not impressed with the styling looked like a Hyundai.
Cant wait to see the new 4R..........

I think this is the problem with Toyota becoming the #1 automaker. What's the incentive for Toyota to produce styling that's appealing. All Toyota has to do is badge their products with their logo and it will sell based on it's legendary history of quality just short of Toyota putting their badge on a turd they could sell anything. I think when an an entity or person acheives mass popularity I think they ultimately sell out. Do as little as possible to maximize profit.

In Toyota's defense... they are a company to make money while maintaining most of their loyal consumers. The current to new LC/LX caters to a different audience or niche market. Oddly enough, some people in the world dont want to be caught driving or being driven in a vehicle that cost under $50K-60K.

I'll know I'm gonna get heat for this. Looks better than the FJ, I'm more receptive of the new LC200 debut than the FJ's debut. Is it still ugly? Yes.
I think the Sequoia will look better, at least from the spy shots with it under cammo. The Tundra like styling works for me.
But I got my 4R and I'm not upgrading anytime soon in the SUV dept. So for now whatever Toyota is cranking out is irrelevant with the exception of the possible (rumored) 4-cyl RWD 2+2 coupe or updates to the Lexus GS.

Well, I have to say im VERY worried about the next gen 4runner. I bet they will lower the clearance, put it on a C-frame like the tundra and kill its pride with the design. The Land Cruiser is known all over the world for its incredible off road capability, this new design just kills it. And now a independent suspension?? I thought Toyota had said the reason they have a solid rear axle is because it lasts longer and can flex more! Does any one know if it has a fully boxed frame? It also appears to have the same crappy Dunflop Grandtrek tires. Toyota, I thought this was a upgrade!!!

The LX570 air suspension is now very much like the Range Rover's. That is, if one side of the axle is pushed up into the fender (aka on a rock), then the other side of the axle is pushed down via hydraulics/air to increase wheel travel. I would think tha this air suspension is optional on the new Land Cruiser (similar to how it is now with the current generation). And because it will likely have an air suspension of some sort, ground clearance is NOT an issue because you can increase or decrease height via a dial in the dash.
Otherwise, the new TLC/LX570 shares the same stuff as the current gen. I am sure that it will have HAC and DAC, like the 4runner/GX. It will have ATRAC, but no locker option (yet). Engine will be more powerful with a six-speed auto.
The new Sequoia apparently has all independent suspension, not the TLC/LX.

Thanks, Thai. Hmmm...push button start huh? The lack of a definitive C Pillar makes it resemble a Highlander even more so. Call me stupid but can someone please explain what that dial to the right of the shifter does? I can't make it out except for the "ON/OFF" and lower "ECT" buttons.
