New 2003 purchased

Purchased a 2WD V8 Limited about 2 weeks ago. Titanium with nav, SR, side curtain airbags and rear spoiler. Small problems already:

-driver's side seat heater not working
-roof rack loose (discovered when hearing inconsistent popping and cracking noise during freeway driving)
-rear seat lock release button broken with plastic surrounding button coming out of seat or button getting stuck

I know that these are small things but I hope that this is not a sign of things to come. Roof rack was tightened, replacement seat cushion has been ordered for heated seat problem and I'm taking it in tomorrow to show them the broken seat release button.

At least drive seems to be very smooth (knock on wood), good acceleration and it is comfortable.

I've driven an Acura for many years and didn't have non engine related things breaking or loosening until it got older.

Also, what RPMs does the 4runner usually idle at and what RPMs driving at freeway speeds.?

Any recommendations on products to use for cleaning interior and exterior of vehicle?

Congratz on your new 4runner :) Welcome to the board too!!

Sorry to hear that you already had problems with your 4runner :( Alteast it's good to hear that you dealer is taking care of you by replacing whatever that needs replacing.

As for idle v8, I dunno as I never really looked to see what it idled at. I would like to think that it would idle under 1000 (750 or so?). Also freeway speeds will depend on how fast you're driving. Unless you're in neutral at one point just see or something. All my commute here in Los Angeles is just soo bad that I never see any significant speeds on the freeway! :(

Cleaning products? Hmmm, dunno I never wash my 4runner!

Thanks for the welcome. Had seat cushion replaced yesterday and part for rear seat lock release has been ordered. Also noticed that some of the stripping around outside of sunroof is coming up in some areas and I will show them that when i bring runner in for seat lock release fix. Hope that I don't find anything else. Getting tired of this.

I guess I'm sometimes lucky to drive on some of the lesser traveled LA freeways (if there are such things) or be going in the direction opposite traffic. :)

Avian:

Sorry to hear your troubles :( It's just one of those first year production stuff that just happens (sometimes it happens regardless). I'm sure the dealer will take care of ya as they want to keep a good impression (not like it really helps! lol).

If you run into any other issues, you can see if the dealer can do a free oil change or something for all the trouble since everything is documented on their computers that you've come in soo many times for fixes/warranty repairs. I'm sure the service manager would be able to work something out for ya.

As for "lesser traveled LA freeways", wow I didn't know those even existed! hehe.

The dealer already provides free oil changes with purchase of the vehicle. I tried to get them to swap my Bridgestones for Michelins which were on several of the 2004s they just received. :) Didn't happen.

"lesser traveled"....I guess when it comes to LA freeways these are few and far between.
