New 2011 T4R Engine Stuttering

had my new T4R for 2 weeks and since day one, when I hit between 40 and 50 mph the transmission seems to stutter - not drastically - but definitely noticeable. Below 40 mph and above 50 mph the problem doesn't exist...

I know, I know... "just dont' drive between 40 and 50 mph."

I will take it in for the dealer to look at but just wondering if any others experience something similar?

'Stutter' how? It has been noted on these that 'around' 40 mph the 4R shifts back and forth between 4th & 5th. Mines seems to be around 42mph. It can be annoying on the roads where 40. There was a thread about this a while back, so a search and you might find more info in that thread.....if this sounds like what you are dealing with.

My 2010 had something similiar in that speed range, but I would describe it more as a "bumping" like a cylinder was misfiring sometimes. After 10k plus miles it has either diminished or it may be that I just don't notice anymore. Toyota service at 5k checkup blamed it on the engine being set up very lean for better gas mileage.

Yeah, it is more like a light "bumping." If it were the transmission wouldn't the tach show it? Hmmmm...

Most likely the 4th to 5th then to 4th deal. Yes, bumping is a very good description of it. Tach barely moves on mine when it does it, usually it will do it if you let off the gas to coast a bit, the engine is not under a load to the rpms remain almost the same, maybe a little difference but not like 2000 to 2500 or anything. If you want to test it put it in 'S' mode, select 4th as the max and drive around, see if you get the 'bump' if not then you know it is the shifting from 4th to 5th around that speed. Confirm by putting it back in D or 5 and try it.
