New 3rd gen owner

I was in the market for t4r last fall and was stuck on the fence 3rd gen or 4th gen and I ended up buying a 4th gen last October, yesterday after casually searching craigslist I found a 96 limited for $1000 with a blown head gasket and 250k on it one owner so I offered the guy $750 and he accepted my offer, ended up getting there and haggled the price down to $600 so I loaded it up on the trailer and took her home. So now I have both a 3rd gen and 4th but now I'm deciding on a jdm motor or a junkyard motor. $900 for a jdm 5vz with "55k" on it probably bs or a junk yard motor with 170k for $400

I'd go JDM personally.

Nice find!

I agree with 185Runner on the JDM motor. It's kind of hard to see, but it looks like this is Limited?

Does it have the rear locker by chance?

It is a limited, it doesn't have the locker which I figured it would have had...

Travelers Insurance just trucked my 02 Gen 3 sport 189,000 miles, off to the auction. Ran great burned no oil, multi mode functioned as new, central diff lock no problem, some issues with rust as always in NE and had a couple of frame welds and Barnes 4WD rear diff replacement but other wise solid underneath. Body was pristeen. Seats were always covered in sheepskin and were like new. everything worked until the main wiring harness plug block got corroded via a faulty windshield lower seal in a blizzard , ice storm, rain and second blizzard.....and toasted the electronics. A total loss due to cost to replace and rewire the truck. Somewhere out there are all the great parts you need. Someone in Arizona with time and a shop could make this truck whole again. Sad day when title was signed over, it was mine since new , 16 years of a great truck, the second Gen3 I owned and until the electronic issues killed it, the best vehicle I ever owned. I always said I drive it til one of us died, never really thought it would be the truck! NVAGVUP

Shoulda bought it back objuanremorsee.

And there is no such thing as a faulty window seal, lol. Maybe someone didnt want to open another tube of urethane. It takes 1.25 tubes of urethane to do a window screen. If i use one tube only, is the seal faulty or is the installer cheap?
