New 4R Owner

Hey all!

My name is Sid and I am the proud new owner of a 2007 4Runner Limited 4x4 V6 w/ NAV in the Galactic Grey Mica. I've been lurking here for about a month gathering information about the 4Runners and I finally found the one I was looking for yesterday afternoon. :D

So far, I love the vehicle. Now I just need to figure out how to use all the features on the NAV and the radio. :bigok:

Thanks for all the information and I look forward to being a useful member of this board.

-Sid

P.S. First mod that I am looking to do is add an always on cigarette lighter plug for my cell phone and bluetooth headset inside the center console. I know, I know,

is my friend.

 :D

Welcome! I'm still waiting for my Pilot to sell. Then I'll look into buying a 4runner. Might wait until `08 model, not sure.

Enjoy the ride, and remember to post photos real soon!

Just trade the Pilot in and get the damn 4R.....you'll be so happy:D

Probably wont be much of any changes between 07/08/09 and ??????????

Congrats on the new truck and welcome to the board! Did you have to special order a V6 with nav?

Welcome to the forum Sid. Was it hard finding a 4x4? I ask because the last time I drove through LA, I noticed that most of the 4th gen 4runners were 2wd.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. :bigok:

It was fairly difficult finding the exact vehicle I was looking for. Most of the limited's in the area were V8, and the ones that weren't V8, didn't have the Navi.

I finally found my 4R at Toyota of Orange (which they had to get from their sister store, South Bay.)

Funny story though... I had been to numerous dealerships looking for the right vehicle and everyone told me it was impossible to find what I was looking for. It was a rare configuration and I would never find it. I just assumed it was part of the sales pitch to get me to buy the car they happened to have on the lot.

So, I place a call to Toyota of Orange (among other dealerships thanks to the advice of someone on this site) and the next day the salesman calls to let me know that he has the exact 4R that I'm looking for, but he has to get it from his other store. I come in to talk numbers and the whole time he is telling me that this 4R is a very rare package and yada yada yada. Again, I've heard all this before, but he has my 4R. That is all that mattered.

So, after a deal was reached (i.e. we had the right price with trade-in and all that) I was waiting for the finance guy and I went outside. To my surprise, I see my Grey Limited 4x4 with Nav. I thought to myself that my sales guy was awesome for getting my car on their lot so quick. I start looking at it (checking that everything looks right, no dents, scratches, etc.) During this process, I opened the rear driver's side door and notice the VIN number on a sticker in the door jam. So I look at the last few numbers to try and tell how many 4R's have already been made in 2007 (not sure if that is how it works, but on my Acura, that's how it was done.) I am satisfied with the vehicle and anxious to get the papers signed so I can start driving.

I go back inside and start the signing of papers. On one of the pages I was supposed to sign, I notice the VIN number and I tell the finance guy that I think the VIN number is wrong. We go outside and compare. The VIN numbers on the paperwork are different than those on the vehicle. Then the finance dude sees that there is already a registration stuck to the windshield, so this couldn't be my 4R.

That's strange. There are two 4R's on the same lot with the exact same "rare" set of options. As it turns out, the 4R I was looking at was already sold. It was a special order from over three months prior that happened to be sold on the same day as I came to buy mine. My salesman reassured me that my "rare" 4R was still on it's way over.

Quite a coincidence, huh? Scared me for a second though. But since I now have a 4R parked in my driveway, I can laugh about it.

Good stuff.

Sorry for the long story, and thanks again for the warm welcome.

There ya go , that wasn't so hard was it ....lol . Congrats my friend , hope I didn't talk you into something to soon. Sometimes you just have to dive in and do it , I'm glad you are happy.

See with mine ( leased for business ) I traded in a 04 Z71 Tahoe that I had that was paid for. They gave my 22k for it and I was going to put a chunk down off the trade , checked interest rates and they were at 1.3% , so I just cashed out the Tahoe and they gave me a check and it was also a no money down 27,000 mile per year lease w/extended warr. until 100k. I took the 22k and invested it for a MUCH higher rate and just going to leave it grow until its time to do something else.

Sometimes with the right deals you cant go wrong. Plus you probably save on sales tax by trading it in.

Congrats bud !!!

I looked at the Z71 Tahoe (07 model), the Honda Ridgeline, and probably 10 other SUV's. I only seriously considered the Tahoe, the Ridgeline, and the 4Runner. I am VERY happy with my choice.

:dancin:

Pics coming soon.

I did my first mod... and it wasn't the added 12v cigarette lighter plug like I mentioned in my first post. Instead, I bought a set of Aero-Racks for my surfboard.

Check it out! :bigok:
