New 4Runner and questions...

Hey All,

After a 2 year absence, I'm back to being the proud owner of a new 2011 4Runner Limited, magnetic gray. So far, I absolutely LOVE it. It's quiet, comfortable, and looks awesome.

I have a couple questions. I searched some and found a little info, but I'd like to ask you guys, the experts, directly. Here goes:

1. Did your 5th gen come with a pouch or some kind of holder for all the manuals and maintenance guides? My manuals came bound together by a large rubber band, but no black pouch. I find that strange. Is there a part number for this thing so I could order one?

2. Did your 4Runner come with a rubber hitch cover? Mine didn't.

3. Is there a front license plate mounting bracket or hardware? My plate is drilled directly into the bumper which is kind of cheap and cheesy looking.

Thanks for your help!

Mike

Congrats Mike!!

1- Mine came with a small vinyl holder for the manuals- go back to your dealer and tell him you want yours...

2- No hitch cover- but the dealer sells one like the 4th Gens had. I keep my hitch installed as a bumper bumper:)

3- My dealer was nice enough to drill into my bumper as well. It's cheesy- I agree. I plugged my holes with some stainless screws and threw the plate in the garage. Some others went this route:

Same as antman.

Here in Delaware we don't need a front plate. It does look bad, I wish Toyota came up with something different.

Good luck with your new Runner.

+2^. Having the dealer drill directly into the bumper was the biggest drag of the buying experience. If I could have caught that prior to delivery, I would have made my own bracket similar to the thread linked above by Antman. Congrats on your new T4R!

Congratulations!!!

Here is my answer to your questions:

1) Mine came with black owner's manual pouch, Vinyl I think.
2) No rubber hitch cover
3) I agree, looks cheap and cheesy. Unfortunately plate on dealer's mounting bracket was drilled directly into the front bumper.

Cheers

Mine didn't come with a pouch for the manuals, just kinda thrown in the glove box.
No hitch cover either and the dealer wanted $12+ tax for cheap rubber one so I might just order a nicer quality one online.
Also, I hate the plate mounting location. Even though it's illegal in NY, I've considered just taking it off

Manual Pouch

JayBe,

It's funny that you're in NY and your truck came without a pouch for manuals. I'm in NE Ohio, and my 4Runner came from NY - no manual pouch. Coincidence?

Hahaha that's pretty funny. I guess NY dealers are full of cleptos with a penchant for stealing manual pouches. I have to say tho, I was annoyed when I saw mine didn't come with a packet for the books. My Jeep Wrangler came with a nice canvas, OD green one. I should have kept it before I traded it in.

Utah purchase: no pouch for manuals, no hitch cover, and screwed in plate. I'd bet the screwed in plate happens at the plant rather than by dealer, else they'd be crooked!

They put everything in a Big manilla env, nice. I just leave a few in the manuals in the glove. No hitch cover I hear they just get swiped. I used to leave the receiver in all the time on my car but over time it became 'welded' to the the car. But it can be a nice bumper bumper. Does anyone know what I actually need to tow on an '11 sr5? I mean did it come with all the parts except the ball? I'm in MA and have my old plate still so I only need rear plate. I plan on hanging onto that as long as i can.

same as the others..

1.) my dealer provided me with a red plastic/vinyl pouch for all my stuff..has their name and phone number all of it.

2.) no rubber plug for the hitch

3.) my sales guy literally drilled the holes in my bumper.

welcome back to T4R

1. Like some of the others, my manuals came in a vinyl pouch thingy.
2. No hitch cover on mine.
3. We don't need a front plate in SC so I told my dealer that if the truck had a front plate attached or had holes drilled in the front bumper when I take delivery, the deal was off. My truck has no holes or a plate on the front bumper.

Nope. Dealer installed mauling. The factory does make it easy for the dealer to keep it straight by placing two small dimples in the front bumper where the screws are to be mounted.
