New 4runner - help identifying exact model

Got my first Yota a few months ago after driving a Grand Cherokee and Dodge Ram my whole life, and I am sold. I was hoping for a little help identifying the exact model of my 4runner after doing some research on the VIN. I believe it is a 2000 Sport but the owners manual says 2000 Highlander.

Couple things I've noticed, the truck has DRLs (daytime running lights) and I've read that those were only on the 2000 Sports. The production and original purchase dates listed are in December 1999.

Just wondering because i want to refer to my truck correctly, I know the Highlander and Sport models are essentially the exact same thing but still, considering the manual says Highlander right on it I'd like to know...

As always, pics attached. Pretty much 100% stock except for the stereo that I replaced.

It has the coveted hood scoop and factory E-locker!

Nice pick up. That is definitely not a highlander. Its a 3rd gen 4runner. Limited model I believe judging by the wheels, moon roof and fog lights.

Welcome to Toyota!!

I never knew that there was a 4R package labeled Highlander. Ya learn something new everyday!! lol

Just call it a 3rd gen 4Runner and nobody can tell you you're wrong  Nice find definitely jealous of your E-locker :D

You thought wrong!

Its the highlander package. Stopped after '00. Then the highlander (its own model) came out in '01.

I really hate trying to explain that to people, lol, its always hawkward ....

Op stop by the local dealer with your vin and ask for a build sheet, its a list with all packages and options the truck was ordered with, and has some very good information on it.

if you dont mind, how much did you pay for it and what mileage? I'm trying to find a 3rd gen with similar specs

nice pickup anyway! :girl:

Thanks guys.

It's got 200k. I've put about 5000 on it but a family friend was the previous owner and he put all 195k on it before me.

I paid 2800 for it after pointing out it needed brakes and shocks. Steal. Tires had 99% life left and all-in-all it is in immaculate condition. Slight vibration in the wheel at 70mph but it comes and goes.

I want to paint the wheels they are the only thing in rough condition but i've never done it before, possibly take the running boards off.
