New 4Runner here, well not new, I've recently purchased a 2004 SR5, but you get what I mean. I've got lots of plans for my "blank slate" but so little time this holiday season to get much done. I was originally going for a new FJ Cruiser and had the chance to drive the Shiny White 4Runner sitting next to it and fell in love with the thing. I love the look of the FJ to be sure, but the 4Runner is so much easier for me to see out of and it (to my knowledge) isn't subject to that fender crack/tear issue that seems (so far at least) to be unresolved in it's entirety. On top of that, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 4Runner really doesn't sacrifice any off-road performance to the FJ Cruiser as I was somewhat led to believe. The 4Runner was always explained to me as the "On Road 4x4 SUV" Toyota was selling, but I really don't find that to be true at all. There's definitely a truck under those good looks.
I've been reading the boards for awhile now, several months, and have to say I have already reaped the benefits of the wealth of information that's on tap here. So thanks to all you guys that post often and are keeping things constructive/informative.
The many and varied plans for my 4R in the future:
Tints (all but the windshield, of course)
Heated Mirrors (Fogged up a lot here in WA)
Bull Bar (Hoping to find something that "gels" with the look of the white '04 4R)
Skid Plate (Been looking at the Jaos)
New Tires (Revos, possibly BFGs)
Reasonable Lift (Nothing overboard)
Some kind of functional Slider/Step bars
Radar Detector (I'm a gadget freak.)
CB Radio (Something that doesn't require hardcore mounting, but works reliably.)
Eventually I want an in-dash video/nav system and a rear view cam for it, but because of the cost this'll come last most likely, if ever.
Yeah, many big plan for sure, but I guess that says a lot about how awesome of a platform the T4R is.
Thanks for reading, hope to contribute what I can here and I apologize in advance for the barrage of questions I'm sure I'll have for you all.
