Hey guys, my name is Chris. I live in Limerick, PA. I'm currently looking into trading my car in for a 4Runner. I've always liked SUVs and I think it's time to trade in a get another one. I love wheeling so this is my primary reason for buying an SUV/4Runner.

I recently sold my 2002 Nissan Xterra SE Supercharged for financial reasons. I wish I hadn't!!! What a great truck, superb offroad. I had it lifted with mud tires and it had a lot of offroad gear(lights, recovery equipment, etc). So now, I'm looking at the 4Runner to be my next rig.

I came here looking for help/insight pretty much. I want to get as much information on the truck as I can, or links to any info, parts, etc. as well. Like I said, I'm going to buy it to modd it and wheel it.
Right now, I'm looking at a 2003-2005.

Questions:
What kind of offroad rating/capabilities does it have? What are the differences between SR5, Limited, and Sport? Which ones have hill/downhill assist? What kind of 4WD do they have? How does the stock suspension setup holdup? Trans? Engine? What are recommended/popular mods for wheeling? How about sites and companies with aftermarket parts?

I think those are my main questions right now. Hope you guys can help me out.

Just my opinion, but you should also consider the 3rd gen (96-02). They are pretty much bulletproof and are awesome offroad and are very capable, even in stock form.

Yeah, I was looking at them actually. I'm going to check 3 4th Gens this weekend. I was only able to find one 3rd Gen that interested me that was kinda close by, but I won't be able to check it out at the same time.
The only thing that I don't really like about it is the HP rating.

buy a 96-00 4runner supercharged, 5 speed, SR5, 4WD, V6, Rear Locker, sport edition (99,00), ARB front bumper with warn 9.5i winch, gobi roof rack with ladder, 4 PIAA's for the roof, Safari Snorkel, and put a 2in lift 285/75/Tundra wheels and call it a day. :biggrin2:.
