New 4runner owner here

Just picked up my "new to me" 4runner and so far I'm very impressed with it.

One owner 2005 SR5 V8 4WD with heated leather, moonroof, roof rack and a DVD entertainment system.

It's got 50,000 miles on it and appears to have the original Duelers on it which are ready to be retired. I've got a fresh set of Revos on order.

The V8 has an amazing amount of power and really pushes you back in your seat. I have a lightly modded 5.0 Mustang and this truck has a very familiar push-you-back-in-your-seat feeling when I mash the throttle.

I have a history of spending way too much money on mods for my vehicles so I am trying to keep this one stock (or atleast hold out as long as I can).

My past 4WD truck experience was a 2001 Wrangler with the I6. It was a lot of fun but my forearms were always sore after a highway trip because it was always a fight against the crosswinds. That and you could barely fit a case of beer behind the back seat.

This 4runner seems to have the best of both worlds, decent room, good 4WD capabilities and nice interior.

Did I mention the V8 kicks ass?

WELCOME!! :hello: Looks great! Good luck with not putting mods on! I bought my 4R a few months ago and already ordered 2 different items for it. :biggrin2:
I went with the 2005 v8 Sport and love it! Very fun trucks to own!

Great Choice

You made a great choice in buying the Toyota 4Runner 50K is really nothing on that engine. If you notice Toyota don't change very much, they know when to leave a good product alone.

Yeah I did a TON of research before finally deciding on a V8 4Runner. Nothing else I looked at came close feature-wise for the price.

My only real annoyances are:

1) lack of headroom ( because of moonroof) I'm only 5-11" and if I am wearing a hat it's really annoying.

2) Beeping when you loose traction (traction control?) Ok, I get it... I went a little heavy on the throttle, but I can do without the beeping, I enjoy a little rear end slide every now and again.

Other than that happy as can be.

The lack of headroom is there, both in the 3rd and 4th gen. At 6'4" I simply cannot fit in a 4Runner with a sunroof. I also have a little trouble at a stop light, if I am the first person, I have to bend down a bit to see the light.

Yes, the traction control can be a nuisance, then VSC and brake assist. Sometimes the car can be possessed. I guess, it is trying to make you safe.

You guys must have short legs or wear cowboys hats. I am 6'2" and I fit perfectly fine without touching with a hat or having to duck to see a light.
