Hey folks, just purchased a 2006 Sport V8 4Runner about two hours ago. Purchased it from carmax for about $22k OTD w/42k miles on it.

I have a couple of questions.

1) When driving home from the dealer I noticed that when braking the brake pedal shakes/vibrates when braking from 50+mph. Is that common on 4Runners? Carmax offers a 30 day warranty bumper to bumper. Should I get it checked out?

2) Where's a good place to get OEM parts? Looking for OEM rubber floor/cargo mats.

May be that your rotors are warped. Does it feel like it lurches forward when you are coming to a stop? Bought a 2005 SR5 last week and had to replace the rotors because when braking and coming to a stop it felt like the vehicle was lurching. Anyways congrats on your new ride. Have had mine for a week and love it.
 
Instead of OEM, I'd go the WeatherTech (mat) route. They are fantastic and I have never been happier with an aftermarket product.

I'd definitely get that vibration checked out. Could be warped rotors as cfairbank mentioned. I had warped rotors on my old ride and it did the exact same thing.

1st- congrats, 2nd- yea,i agree check rotors, 3rd- yes on the weathertech floor liners, they protect a lttle more & you can always put a cheap rubber mat on top/inside of it if you want.
 
I've Toyota all-weather mats. Got set of 4 for $ 80.00 at local dealer. They look great and cheaper than W-Tech.
 
you might pay a little more but the weathertech FLOOR LINERS not mats will give more protection. check out the picture of them on theyre site, they extend up the sides of the carpet & even cover the side sill floor molding. my 4runner came with the oem rubber mats & my heel guickly wore a hole in them, also some of the ribs broke loose. just my 2 cents.
 
I have the Catch-All Extremes. They are just like the WeatherTechs, but without the grooves. I like them much better and they offer full carpet protection.
 
Congrats! Did you test drive it before you bought it? Anyways, let Carmax fix your brake problems. Hope you don't have to take it back and forth for the next 30 days.
 
A pulsation like the others have said is due to warped rotors. Also beware of seized calipers. If the vehicle was sitting on the lot for any length of time the lower pistons rust and seize.
 
Agree with the previous posters - start with the rotors (and brake pads...if the rotors were pretty rusty you should get new ones).

If the vibration is still there and is of an 'off then on' nature and happens even when you push the brake down in park, then you might have a brake booster issue.
 
Congrats....I would definitely make an appointment with car max. I just bought mine from carmax 3 weeks ago and have already brought mine back 3 times for stupid little things, but am glad I did because it is all free and they make it very convenient for you. If it is going to take more than a day, they give you a car off there lot to drive. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!!
 
Crappy Bridgestone tires. most likely the cheapest ones they ordered. oh well, at least they are brand new.
