New 4Runner owner

I just bought a 1999 Toyota 4Runner and my instrument and accessory lights do not come on for nighttime driving when you turn your headlights on. I checked the dimmer switch and nothing happens and I checked the fuses, they all look good. What else should I look for?? P.S. I sold my 83 CJ7 to buy the 4Runner so I'm not too familiar with Toyota's. I'm use to working on my Jeep where everything it pretty simple. Any help would be great. Thanks!!
